Service ends,
stories begin.
A powerful magazine ad promoting PBS’s veteran-focused documentary.

Emotional depth through design.
This Murray State University project was a magazine advertisement for the PBS show, Not Yet Begun to Fight, sponsored by General Motors. The design blends two carefully selected photographs and pairs the typography of Freight and Helvetica to evoke the emotional struggle veterans face long after their service ends.
Careful consideration went into font selection—Freight's expressive qualities paired with Helvetica’s neutral clarity—to reflect complex emotions. The imagery of a fisherman shadowed by a "ghost soldier" symbolizes the lingering presence of war, capturing a powerful and resonant narrative.

Personal connection, universal emotion.
As an OEF Army veteran, this project was especially meaningful and provided a unique opportunity for personal expression. Creating this design deepened my appreciation for the power of visual storytelling, thoughtful typography, and impactful imagery. It reinforced my belief that design can authentically and sensitively capture complex emotional experiences—connecting deeply with diverse audiences.
